TEAM PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION

This unique program builds emergency preparedness, situational awareness, decision making, technical skill capability, communication and the safety leadership skills required for an effective and cohesive incident response. Focusing on frontline workplace responders, TPP transforms individual capability in both technical and human skill areas by tailoring the challenges to suit each participant. These individual changes trigger a ripple effect within the team, leading to positive cultural shifts that enhance overall team performance.

APPLICATION

The Team Performance program (TPP) is designed specifically to develop higher performing emergency response teams through the capability of individuals and sustained team performance.

DURATION

  • 4 days

TARGET GROUP

Persons directly responsible for emergency response or those who may be called upon to support emergency response personnel.

UNITS OF COMPETENCY

The program is aligned to meet the following Units of Competency and Skill Sets:

  • PUATEA001 Work in a team
  • PUATEA002 Work autonomously
  • PUASS00054 Basic Rescue
    - PUACOM001 Communicate in the workplace

  • HLTAID011Provide first aid.

This will be reassessed on the program as required.

FACILITATION

Facilitation techniques are direct & engaging. RR+R’s team will engage your team directly and in a way that pushes individuals boundaries of capability. This process expands effective team performance.

CERTIFICATION

A Statement of Attainment listing individual units of competency will be issued to participants upon successful completion.

PROGRAM CONTENT

The Team Performance program builds on a technical skill base, develops the human skills factors and then creates realistic environments where participants can experience the stimuli they would normally expect to encounter in their operational environment.

Content includes:

  • Support and enhancement of current skills and disciplines required by the ERT including life support, fire, vertical rescue, hazardous atmospheres, vehicle and plant
  • Emergency preparedness of equipment and resources for immediate and rapid response
  • Human Skills Factors including
− Decision Making: highlights the factors involved in traditional and naturalistic decision making and their relevance to IRCER, RR+R’s decision making process
    - Situational Awareness: highlights the key factors involved in situational awareness and the cognitive challenges that shift outcome perception
− State Management: highlights the imperative, and techniques required, to manage the effect emotional stimuli has on performance during high risk cascading events
  • Performance inhibitors - techniques are highlighted to manage inhibitors that may impact an individuals performance
  • Development of individual leadership capability in order to influence others in high risk, time poor environments
  • Consolidation interviews - each team member is provided impartial feedback, confidentially, on key areas specific to the enhancement of their performance.

PROGRAM MATERIAL

The following resources and tools have been developed by RR+R in order to simplify decision making and incident management processes whilst still meeting the evidence requirements of an incident.

Incident Response Roles & Relationships:
Identifies the key roles & reporting relationships required for efficient incident response.
Operational Decision Making:
Outlines the key human skills & understanding required to make decisions in time, re-source & information poor high risk environments.
Incident Response Tool (IRCER):
A process for gathering information, formulating appropriate responses, communicating, escalating & reviewing within an incident management context.
Operational Reporting & Record Keeping:
Innovative tools for the gathering and conveyance of key information through the chain of command for operational success.
