Confined Space Rescue Course

Course Description

This program provides the knowledge and skills for conducting a confined space rescue, building on previous confined space and rescue training and experience to enable responders to perform the necessary tasks associated with rescue operations.

• PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation
• PUASAR025 Undertake confined space rescue

Course Outline

• Accessing a casualty in a confined space
  
• Search and rescue
• Casualty care
• Casualty extrication
• Moving a stretcher in three dimensions
• Monitor gas atmospheres

Mode of Delivery

This course will be delivered face-to-face at one of our leading facilities.

Pre-Requisites:

The PUASAR022 unit of competency holds the formal pre-requisite of HLTAID011 Provide first aid. Students must hold certification for this pre-requisite and provide a copy of this to RR+R. 

It is essential that the pre-requisite units listed below are obtained prior to the issuance of the PUASAR025 unit to individuals within the fire sector or if the PUASAR025 unit is contributing to the attainment of a fire qualification. Students must hold certification for the following units of competency for enrolment into this course and must supply their credentials.

• PUASAR022 Participate in a rescue operation (covered within the program)
• PUAFIR306 Identify, detect and monitor hazardous materials at an incident
  

Students holding a previous certification for the units of competency and are seeking recognition must supply their credential at the time of enrolment.

The fire sector is those sections of government departments, statutory authorities or organisations that have responsibility under jurisdictional arrangements for the delivery of firefighting and fire management services.

Students must have language, literacy and numeracy skills (LLN) to interpret and apply relevant information to commence learning in this program. An LLN assessment may be conducted upon receipt of enrolment application to ensure each student has the appropriate level of skills required to undertake this course.

Entry Requirements

Students must have experience and be familiar with operating Breathing Apparatus.

Certification

Students who successfully complete this course and demonstrate competence will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment under the Australian Qualifications Framework. The certification will be issued by Risk Response and Rescue (RTO 90774).
